Monday 18 March, 12:00-3pm and Tuesday 19th March, 1pm-4pm
These two in-person events are free but you must book in advance.
We are working with South of Scotland Enterprise to highlight community shared ownership of renewables, the potential benefits, how it can work and what advice and assistance is available for communities in making decisions on whether or not to pursue shared ownership.
Shared ownership gives community groups the chance to make an investment in a commercially owned renewable energy project. This provides an opportunity for income as well as many other benefits. It’s the Scottish Government’s ambition that all renewable developments should consider, explore, and offer shared ownership opportunities.
South of Scotland Enterprise are holding two free, in-person introductions to the potential of shared ownership:
Date | Location | Timings |
Monday 18 March | Tweed Horizons, Newtown St Boswells TD6 0SG | 12:00-3pm |
Tuesday 19 March | A’ The Airts, 8-16 High Street, Sanquhar, Dumfries and Galloway, DG4 6BL | 1:00-4pm |
At these sessions we will introduce you to shared ownership, how it works, and the support available from the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) that could help you explore opportunities in your area.
South of Scotland Enterprise’s Chair, Professor Russel Griggs will also talk about their ambition to support communities to maximise the benefit they get from future community benefit from onshore wind. You can find more information on their previous work on community benefit here.
This event is an Introduction to Shared ownership, so is suitable for those community organisations who are at the initial stages of understanding the sector.
