Local Energy Scotland is delighted that ATTIX CIC, established by Radio City Association, has received CARES funding to support the planning and design of the first subsidy free, 100% community-owned onshore large wind turbine in Scotland. It will be based in Garnock Valley, North Ayrshire and construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The turbine will have the potential to generate 7,839 MWh of clean energy per year and will reduce 3,324 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The profits made from the electricity sales will be reinvested back into the local community, which includes the support of the refurbishment of the Radio City Association, an important community hub.

Chris Morris, Local Energy Scotland Manager, said: “CARES funding has helped Radio City Association to develop this major community project, providing support from an initial idea, through the planning process and to it achieving financial close. Congratulations to the talented and driven team at Radio City whose hard work and tenacity will pay off as the project is built.”
