Wednesday 2 April 2025, 12:30pm-1:30pm, on Microsoft Teams.

Local Energy Scotland are hosting a workshop to help inform the Scottish Government’s consultation on community benefits from net zero energy developments. We are keen to hear from community organisations about their experiences or expectations of community benefits.

At the workshop you’ll:

  • Hear from Scottish Government about the consultation – what’s being proposed and how to respond formally to the consultation
  • Have the opportunity to provide your own feedback on key consultation themes.

The workshop aims to enhance the formal consultation response by providing a deep dive into the aspects of the consultation that matter to communities, for example:

  • How could the Good Practice Principles better ensure that community benefits are used in ways that meet the needs and wishes of the community?
  • Should more direction be provided on how and when to engage communities in community benefit opportunities, and when arrangements should take effect?
  • In the context of offshore wind development, what or who or where do you consider the relevant communities to be?
  • What could be done to help maximise the impact of community benefits from offshore wind? What does good look like?

Key themes will be shared with the Scottish Government following the workshop and will feed into the broader consultation analysis.
