  • CARES funding for connections to district heating schemes – CARES funding is available to support community buildings and community assets to connect to  district heating schemes that are powered fully or partially by a renewable source of energy. Funding up to £5,000 (75% grant and 25% loan) is available per connection. If you have a district heating network near to your community building and are interested in connecting please contact us for further information, including the requirements that need to be met by your district heating network operator.

What other types of funding are available from CARES?

There are several types of funding:

  • Development funding – (currently closed to new applications) to complete community engagement activities, feasibility work and options appraisals to develop new local energy projects.
  • Capital funding – (currently closed to new applications) for the capital costs of local energy projects.
