Typical community energy projects include wind turbines and solar farms. For projects that are 100% community owned or community groups following a shared ownership model, we provide free support and advice for all stages of your project.

We help communities deliver renewable energy projects. Whether wholly owned and/ or controlled by the community, or through partnerships with commercial or public sector partners, we are here to help at every stage of the project.

Watch our video below to find out more about recent projects supported by the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES).

During Community Energy Fortnight 2022 we celebrated the success of community energy organisations who make a real difference to their communities and play an important part in our goal to reach net zero emissions by 2045.

In this video we speak to people from:

  • Greencraig Wind Turbine
  • Donside Hydro, Aberdeen
  • Glasgow Community Energy.
