Good engagement with communities is an important aspect of renewable energy projects and getting it right from the outset can be crucial. Foundation Scotland will share their insights into how communities can work together on community benefits. Local Energy Scotland will talk about how we work with different organisations on exploring shared ownership.

Our speakers will talk about the partnerships that enable community owned energy to succeed, how to engage those partners, what the challenges are and what learnings we can share with a new generation of community owned energy projects.

Community benefits provide an opportunity for developers of low carbon projects to empower communities to take positive, strategic actions towards a fair and just net zero future. Our speakers will share insights into how community benefits are being planned or delivered to enable communities to actively participate in creating sustainable, thriving places and the research and tools that support this. We’ll also explore the role that shared ownership plays in the just transition.
